Description
Capture Video, Audio and Photos Right in the Browser
CaptureKit is a self-contained HTML5 media capture utility that adds a polished, professional camera studio to any website. Visitors can record video, capture microphone audio and take still photos without installing an app, setting up Node.js or loading files from a CDN. Just drop the files on a local machine or an HTTPS server and open the page to start capturing.
Built for Real Capture Workflows
Many simple webcam widgets only take a snapshot, and building reliable recording code from scratch often breaks across browsers. CaptureKit fills that gap with a complete in-browser studio, designed for portals, kiosks, SaaS flows, support desks and client websites where real media capture matters.
Key Features
- Manual capture mode for video, microphone audio and still photos, with pause, stop, retake, download and share controls
- Front and rear camera switching when multiple cameras are available
- Live audio visualizer with a polished playback card for real-time feedback
- Stage zoom with slider, plus and minus, mouse wheel and pinch controls, plus one-tap mood effects
- Smart camera tools where supported, including torch, focus, exposure and white balance
- Timed Sync capture sessions with a customizable start delay, interval and clip length
- Continuous or duration-limited sessions, with a maximum capture limit and live pause and resume control
- On-device history library using IndexedDB to preview and manage captured images, videos and recordings
- Optional API upload after each capture, on a timeout flush, or manually from the history library, with a live upload status indicator
- Progressive Web App installation for web, Android and iOS, with a branded app experience
- System, Light, Dark and Night themes to match your site
- 100% self-hosted assets with no build step and no complex configuration
Easy Setup, No Build Step
CaptureKit is made for fast deployment. There is no build process to run and no reliance on external CDNs. The interface offers a cinematic stage, a manual dock for capture controls, a sync panel for scheduled sessions and a history library, so visitors can record, review and share media with confidence.
Ideal For
- Product teams adding in-browser camera capture to web applications
- Support and operations teams collecting short video or audio evidence
- Agencies delivering a ready-made capture utility to client websites
- Teams that need timed Sync clips with optional upload to their own API
Please Note
By default, captured media is stored in the browser’s IndexedDB on the visitor’s device. Clearing site data, using private mode, uninstalling the PWA or clearing the history library can remove those local captures. For permanent storage, use the download, share or upload-to-API options.
